Symbol

He'd shown Sirius his ankh once, just after his return to England.

"It's just a silly Egyptian thing," he said, and dropped the chain into Sirius's open palm. The ankh itself was wooden and plain, but carved with a relief on its face. It never could, Bill thought, match up to the kind of treasures found at 12 Grimmauld Place. "But I thought you might like it," he added.

"What does it do?" asked Sirius.

"It's the symbol for life," said Bill. "It's-- good luck."

"Oh," Sirius said, and grinned. "I don't think I'd need that."

He wasn't usually wrong.
