Popularity had never been much of a concern for Percy, and that was a good thing, because if he had one thing, popularity was not it. He had his intelligence, and his prefect's badge, and too many siblings to keep track of, and while these were all admirable qualities, he was not
liked.
And he was certainly not admired.
But Cedric was another story. He wasn't even comparable to Percy, but he was no less respected-- more, maybe. Where Percy came short, Cedric picked up the slack. Percy may not have appreciated this comment, but Cedric, at least, appreciated him.
